Case study 02 · Teach For All

A rebuilt global learning platform that raised engagement 40%

A $150K platform redesign that raised user engagement 40%: new taxonomy, full-site search, a filterable library and clear event calls to action, shipped with a UX partner and developers.

My role: Product owner. I co-led the research and designed the information architecture and rapid prototypes that shaped the final interface.

The problem

The Global Learning Lab needed to offer on-demand expertise across several topics to a worldwide network of educators, and promote virtual events. The previous site got in the way:

  • A confusing high-level taxonomy
  • No dedicated place to browse upcoming events
  • No full-site keyword search
  • No way to filter the resource library by topic

What I did to understand it

I co-led a needs analysis with the team and its audiences, using card sorting, focus groups and interviews, and developed personas the whole team could design against.

The key decision

Rather than reskin the site, we rebuilt the structure first, with a taxonomy that reflected the team's real domain expertise and how members grouped the content.

What shipped

Working with a UX partner and developers, we launched a redesigned site with the new taxonomy, search across the full site and the asset library, filters by topic, content type, audience and region, and clear calls to action for virtual events. I owned the product and shaped the architecture and UI through rapid prototypes.

What happened

User engagement rose 40%. Educators could reach resources through search and filters instead of hunting through pages, and events had a clear home.

What I'd do differently

Test prototypes earlier with members outside the largest regions.
